Virtual mode placement drive or online Assessment tests : To DOs and Not to DOs

Due to Covid’19, most of the placement drives or assessments are conducted in Virtual mode or online mode. The various rounds of placement drive are online tests, GDs, Technical and HR interview. The candidates who take these tests or participating the interview are required to follow the instructions specified by the recruiters/companies. I would like to share the important points (‘to Dos’ and ‘Not to Dos’) to be noted by the candidates before, during and post the examinations or taking the tests.

Before start of the test/exam

To DOs

·        Read the instructions carefully (shared by recruiter)

·        Check your laptop whether fully charged and plugged into the power

·        Check the system/laptop minimum configuration and install appropriate software, if required, check the appropriate browser also

·        Check the working of Internet connection (with required min. speed), webcams (installed with latest driver)

·        Sometimes disable the antivirus for webcam detection for browser to connect to webcams

·        Keep the required writing materials as per recruiter’s instruction

·        Check the comfortable seating position, adequate lightings in the room and light source facing you and away from the camera.

·        Keep your login credentials (user name and password) given by the recruiters

·        Turn off any application notifications, background process running on the system, close all other applications, files/folders if necessary

·        Do login and complete the registration process before start of the exam and be ready

During the test/exam

To Dos

·        Accept any terms and conditions displayed and carefully follow the instructions (exam, section/question level instruction)

·        Focus on the screen showing the questions, try to solve / give the answer

·        Keep track of the timer

·        Avoid doing any suspicion malpractices or attempt of unfair activity leads to disqualification

Not to Dos

·        Do not cover webcam and do not cover or mask your face

·        Do not have anybody present in the room and talk to anybody, or share your screen with anybody

·        Do not take or consume any food items

·        Do not use any mobile phones or electronic gadgets

·        Do not share the screenshots of the question with social media or anyone

·        Do not open or move or try to use any other applications

·        Do not press the X button in the top right corner before final submission

·        Do not leave the laptop ahead of the allotted time

·        Do not change the seating posture or move around the seated position which will hide your full face from Webcam

Post Test/exam

To Dos

·        After completion of the test, press submit button

·        Exit the Browser

·        If required, restart the system in order to reverse the temporary changes made for the exam.

As most of the online or  remote exams / tests are conducted in AI based  Remote proctoring mode with advanced face detection technology, the malpractices or fraudulent activities can be easily detected which will lead to disqualification. Hence the candidates are requested to follow the above instruction strictly.
